ICSME Distinguished Artifact Award 2020
The artifact for our paper Static source code metrics and static analysis warnings for fine-grained just-in-time defect prediction at the 36th International Conference on Software Maintenance and Evolution. This award recognizes that the artifact we provided to supplement our paper is not only available and repeatable, but also of outstanding quality.
IST Outstanding Reviewer Award 2018
I was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer in 2018 for the Information and Software Technology journal published by Elsevier. This award recognizes the quality, timeliness, and quantity of my reviews for the journal.
Best Industrial Paper Award at the SANER 2017
I won the award for the best industrial paper together with my co-authors Harald Altinger, Harald Altinger, Friederike Schneemann (AUDI Electronic Ventures), Franz Wotawa (TU Graz), and Jens Grabowski (Uni Göttingen) with our work on Performance Tuning for Automotive Software Fault Prediction at the 24th IEEE International Conference on Software Analysis, Evolution, and Reengineering (SANER 2017). The paper evaluated the impact of different sampling approaches on defect prediction models for automative software.
ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award at the MSR 2016
I won an ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award together with my co-authors Fabian Trautsch, Philip Makedonski, and Jens Grabowski for our work on „Adressing Problems with External Validity of Repository Mining Studies Through a Smart Data Platform“ at the 13th International Conference on Mining Software Repositories (MSR). Within the paper, four major problems in the state of practice of software repository mining are discussed and the SmartSHARK smart data platform is proposed and evaluated as a potential solution. The smart data platform is an outcome of the Master thesis of Fabian Trautsch which was supervised by Steffen Herbold. ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Awards can be awarded to the top 10% of technical full papers at high profile conferences sponsored by the ACM.
Bug Bash Winner at the ICST 2015
I won the quite fun bug bash at the 8th IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation together with Tanja Vos. The Bug Bash is an ad-hoc session, where testers are asked to find as many failures as possible within a short amount of time within a previously unknown software.
PROMISE 2013 Best Paper Award
I won the best paper award of the 9th International Conference on Predictive Models in Software Engineering (PROMISE 2013) for my paper „Training data selection for cross-project defect prediction“.
DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis 2008
My master thesis „Detection of feature freezes using clustering algorithms“ was rewarded with the DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis 2008. The DASMA-Diplomarbeitenpreis is this year awarded for the 6th time by the „Deutschsprachige Anwendergruppe für Software-Metrik und Aufwandschätzung e.V.“ (DASMA). My master thesis was the first work on analyzing software development processes based on data mining in software archives perfomed by our research group in Göttingen. A software archive contains multiple versions of a software and thus reflects the development process of the software. In this context, data mining can be seen as the gathering of metric data of several versions of a software. The aim was to try, if statistical learning methods could be used to analyze the mined metric data.
